Ready, Trader Joe’s fans? Let the 12-bottle series begin!
Our first bottle from the Trader Joe’s mixed case was the 1967 Toscana red wine from Italy, 2008 vintage. It’s a blend of 85% Sangiovese, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Syrah. It cost $5.99 at our local Trader Joe’s.
This was a very nice little Italian red that will appeal to a lot of palates. It’s slightly more fruit-forward than other Tuscan reds I’ve tried, but it has wonderful earth notes on the nose and on the palate — it’s not just a fruit bomb. This is a great wine to pick up if you’ve got ribs or burgers on the grill.
